We all occasionally have some bad days when our deepest wisdom may be simply to pray the prayer veteran preacher Fred Craddock recommends, “Lord, thank you for the gift of life, more important than how I may feel about it on any given day.” I know I have some days when, wars and genuine calamities aside, all it takes to get me off-track and down in the dumps is one more broken automobile, one more tuition payment, one more overblown worry. Today, for example! But then I read one or two or a few of the fine essays from John Comer’s pen as he urges “children of the earth” like me to look upward to their heavenly Father, and I feel better. You will, too!
