Our Christian Roots

During the early years of the Cold War, some of us in America hooted at the Russian propagandists who ludicrously rewrote their textbooks to take credit for virtually every modern invention and to remove any embarrassing mention of Russia’s 1800 years of Christian heritage. Only a clown or a dunce would think they could actually change what happened by rewriting it, we chortled. Have you read America’s history textbooks 30 years later? How many can you find that contain even a single paragraph acknowledging the Christian faith of our founding fathers? The next generation of American teachers will use these sanitized textbooks without even knowing what’s missing. In a series of devotional essays this month Senior Editor Gene Shelburne calls us to reclaim “Our Christian Roots.”
