The Gospels record several incidents when people came to Jesus and either by word or action expressed some doubt that Jesus would want to help them. One poor lady who had been suffering for years sneaked up behind him in a crowd and summoned all her courage to touch just the hem of his robe. When she got caught stealing a healing, she cowered, fearing Jesus’ reproof. Instead, he smiled and praised her for her faith. In his devotional essays this month, Senior Editor Gene Shelburne assures us that the Savior welcomes every person who turns to him for help. Never hesitate to plead, “Lord, have mercy!”
